On May 20, FCU presented Professor Dang Kim Vui, who is president of Vietnam’s Thai Nguyen University (TNU), with an honorary doctoral degree. The ceremony attracted over 200 guests, including Chi Yaozong, a representative from the Ministry of Education’s International and Cross-strait Education Division.

Prior to conferring the honorary degree, FCU President Lee Bing-Jean listed many of Professor Dang’s outstanding accomplishments, such as his expertise in the fields of environmental ecology and management, as well as his international vision and determination to give back to the local community. Since becoming president of TNU, Professor Dang has played a major role in organizing comprehensive academic cooperation between FCU and TNU, specifically in the fields of information engineering, electrical machinery, business, and geographic information systems.

For his part, Chi Yaozong not only praised FCU’s solid management practices, but also explored the importance of international exchanges, integrated resources, and academic mobility. He also unequivocally expressed his support for increased academic exchanges between Taiwan and Vietnam.

After accepting his honorary degree, Professor Dang voiced his sincere appreciation for the opportunities afforded him by FCU, as well as expressed his dedication to continued cultural and academic exchanges between FCU and TNU.

Established in 1994, TNU is the main campus of nine affiliated member universities. With 91,000 undergraduate students and 6,000 graduate students, TNU serves as a model for other Vietnamese universities.
