FCU’s Research Team of Intelligent Fibers and Textiles recently won three medals at the 2016 Kaohsiung International Invention & Design Expo. The three winning designs were the Washable Heating 3D High Efficient Mask (gold), Vest with Washable and Active Warming Functions (gold), and Hot Compression Protective Garments (silver). To receive such renowned recognition, FCU’s team out-classed 340 innovative products designed by teams from twenty-six countries.
To adapt to global climate change, as well as an aging society, the Research Team of Intelligent Fibers and Textiles continues to engage in industry-academic cooperative agreements to research and develop energy saving, carbon reducing clothing and wearable products. The team is also developing home care devices that not only reflect market demands, but also mirror international trends found in the wearable smart product industry.
The Research Team of Intelligent Fibers and Textiles comprises students and teachers from an eclectic group of departments, including the Textile and Material Industry Research Center, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Fiber and Composite Materials, Department of Industrial Engineering and Systems Management, and Department of Chemical Engineering. The team is part of the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Industrial Fundamental Technology Project.
