2018 Cultural Heritage of the Silk Road Workshop was launched in Lanzhou University in July. Over 80 students from 18 universities including Feng Chia University, The Open University of Hong Kong, The University of Macau, Sichuan University and so on will visit cities such as Wuwei, Zhangyi, Jiu Quan and Dun Huang of the Silk Road. Various activities will be held as well so that young learners can understand the cultural heritage more profoundly.

Professor Yang from History and Culture School of Lanzhou University stated that Gansu has been well known for its culture and historic heritage of the Silk Road. He emphasized, in terms of culture preservation, the participation of the youth is significant as they can discuss the issue in an innovative and collaborative manner.

Student Cheng Yi-chun from Feng Chia University said that the 18-day trip is a dream trip to her. She always has the passion for the Silk Road and hopes to devote herself to the preservation of the culture. From her point of view, preserving culture is not only the task of experts but also everybody. After the trip, she will definitely share with friends what she sees, thinks, and experiences.

The Cultural Heritage of the Silk Road Workshop has been held for 5 consecutive years. It is expected that students will be inspired to have more sense of responsibility for culture preservation after the trip. It is worth noting that related cultural activities and IoT will be combined so that the young generation can be more motivated to get involved in the culture preservation.
