2018 FIRA RoboWorld Cup is held in Sports Center of Feng Chia University. The Fusing Dorm is also provided as player village. The event was hosted by Central Taiwan Science and Technology Bureau and sponsored by several enterprises including Goodway Machine Group, Maxon Motor Taiwan, New XYZprinting, and Intelligent Data Miner Inc.

The general chair Prof. Kuo-Yang Tu sincerely welcomed all participants and wished all enjoy the exciting robot competition. Around 1,200 participants of about 270 teams from 12 countries are here in Feng Chia University for this event. It is highly believed that the FIRA World Cup is a wonderful opportunity for young people to make new friends and learn from each other in an innovative manner.

The contests consist of seven 7 categorizes this year: Humanoid robot, AndroSot for 3 v 3 soccer game, RoboSot for 2 v 2 autonomous robot soccer game, SimuroSot, DARPA vs. Mini DRC, Drone and FIRA Youth. There are also two teams: the youth team and the adult team.

FIRA (the Federation of International Robot Soccer Association) organized the first robot soccer and other sports competition in 1996. The main goal of FIRA is to promote cutting edge research into robotics, machine learning, computer vision, and artificial intelligence by using robot sports as benchmark problems. A second goal is to introduce students to state of the art technologies and methodologies in the related areas. It is expected that young participants get inspired and thus prepare themselves for their future careers.
