Student Yen- Chun Liu won the first Foxconn Technology Prize offered by Foxconn Education Foundation in 2019.There are totally 13 prize winners and 174 graduate or doctoral students competed for the prizes. It is worth noting that Yen- Chun Liu is the only prize winner from the private university in Taiwan while others are from universities including Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, National Taiwan University, National Chiao Tung University and so on.

Yen- Chun Liu, a graduate student of Aerospace and Systems Engineering of Feng Chia University, won the prize with her research of Estimation of Remaining Useful Life with Prognostics and Health Management. Professor Yuan-Jen Chang is her advisor.

In the research, Yen- Chun Liu met various obstacles such as data collection. She said, “Nowadays the machine operating of conveyer systems tends to be handled via personal experiences, which makes data collecting very difficult. If it can be done by skills of Prognostics and Health Management, the operation will be more efficient and data collecting much easier.”

She was highly praised by Professor Yuan-Jen Chang. According to Professor Chang, Yen- Chun Liu is not only experienced in aerospace engineering but also good at big data analysis. This kind of talents is what industries need most. He expects that Liu can devote herself to the development of Taiwanese industries after graduation.
