FCU s. School is dedicated to social issues in our lives. By cooperating with Taiwanese vendors, we launched the 100% made-in-Taiwan “s. School FoCUs Charity Shoes,” which every purchase is a one-for-one purchase. When the customer purchases a pair of shoes, students from FCU and social welfare organization will work together and give away the other pair of shoes to those in need at home and aboard. At the first trial, 100 shoes were purchased by teachers and students in FCU.
Principal Lee supported the charity by showing up and participating in the sales venue in person. Lee stated, “While others give away old shoes for charity work, FCU provides these 100% made-in-Taiwan shoes to remote areas domestically and internationally to fulfill our public service.
The Dean of the s. School, Dr. Jai said, “The idea of the charity shoes comes from an experience sharing and exchanging with an alumnus of FCU, Yee Chain. Yee Chain produces high quality industrial fabric and provides it to Adidas, Reebok, New Balance and other brand companies. However, there are always excess materials. Based on United Nation’s Goal 12, Responsible Consumption and Production, we can make better use of the excess materials. This triggered s. School to start this project. Supported by the Footwear program in FCU, we connect with a 50-year experienced shoe factory, JDH, in Taiwan, collaborating with each other to build up this 100% made-in-Taiwan shoes.”
s. School FOCUs charity shoes implement the concept of circular economy. FCU reused the excess materials from Yee Chain, designed the shoes and applied the trademark while JDH produced the shoes. FCU built the brand and lastly we provided these shoes to the needy for usage. Our project created a win-win collaboration between the industry, the school and the public services.
